Itaconic Acid or Methylene Succinic Acid is used as a co-monomer or extender in plastics and its esters may be polymerised to make lubricants and plasticisers. It is widely used in Styrene Butadiene resins and in Acrylic latex and Styrene Butadiene latex for textile, paper coating and paint applications. It can substitute for Succinic and Acrylic acids in resins and latex.
